Program Overview
The Environment and Agricultural Production Program was launched in 2000 as a vegetable project with a demonstration farm. Over time, the program expanded to support household families, providing training and resources to improve agricultural practices.
Program Objectives
– Reduce malnutrition
– Decrease pressure on wildlife food sources, such as vegetables
Program Activities
– Identifying and increasing farmers’ access to:
– Improved animal breeds
– Crop varieties suitable for the local area
– Improving farmers’ access to agricultural advisory services
– Drafting proposals to secure funding and resources for agricultural projects
– Monitoring and evaluating supported agricultural activities in communities
Recent Developments
– BMCDA received cows under the “Send a Cow” project to support livestock production
– Vegetable growing initiatives continue to thrive
